I have had a few colpos done and it's really nothing to worry about! :) There will be some mild discomfort while they are doing the biopsy, and you're likely to have cramping for the rest of the day but it's nothing terrible. They advise you to take a pain-killer before your colpo but I never have. If you feel you should, then go ahead. You will have spotting for a day or 2 and there is usually some very WEIRD stuff coming out of there but it's not part of you, it's just the solution they use when their doing your colpo. It is likely to be brown and maybe even have a bumpy appearance (it is somewhat dry by the time it comes out), but you may not even have it to the extent of this.
Like I said, I have had a few colpos done, 4 that I can remember off the top of my head, could be a couple more. I have had one bad experience but it was performed at a hospital where they train new doctors so I attribute my bad experience to that, and I don't think yours will be terribly painful at all :)
Fyi, DON'T make the mistake of wearing a thong to your colpo appointment (I don't know what I was thinking that day) because you will have bleeding afterwards. And bring your own pad (don't use tampons) because the ones they offer you are bulky and uncomfortable.

A colposcopy is a type of biopsy they do in the ob office...Its really quick and kinda smells funny! I had to have one done about a year ago cause they thought I had Ovary Cancer...It a no worry thing though! theres a little discomfort but nothing really outside of a normal pap!
