What's the difference btw Claritin and Claritin-D for pregnancy?

by hoho123, Jul 13, 2006 12:00AM
My wife is pregnant now, she's been using Claritin-D before pregnancy and now. Is that going to affect the unborn baby? And what should I do if it really is the case

Look up the Claritin website and look for information on taking it when pregnant.  If there is none (I'm sure there will be some), call their information number (it will be on the box) and ask them.  Also have your wife check with her doctor.  Good luck!

This is what I found on Walgreens website about it.

If pregnant or breast-feeding, ask a health professional before use.
So I would check with my doctor ASAP!!!!!! Good luck

I think I responded to you yesterday. If your wife is currently taking Claratin-D, please have her switch to regular Claratin like now. Anything with extra letters at the end is bad, this includes Allegra (allegra-D), Robitussin (CP, DE,), Anything with letters after is not good for the baby. Regular Claritin, Robitussin are fine. My doc explained to me why with my last pg, but unfortunately I forget the reason..it was a while ago. Have her call her doc and explain why.
