When Will It Stop...

i'm taking birth control pills but sorta started my period last week (while i was still taking the last week of pills). it was really light though but today i started cramping and all of a sudden i have a heavy flow. this would of been and should of been the time that im supposed to get my period. the cramping and everything is normal except the fact that i had this super light bleeding that lasted from last week up until now. im sure this period will only last my usual 5-6 days. im hoping anyways. but i dont understand why i was light bleeding for a week. does anyone know for sure if it will stop as soon as i start taking my next pack (next sunday) and/or has anyone ever experienced this sort of problem? thanks soo much!

I started Seasonique 11 days ago, after not being on any birth control for over 10 years. I started it to help with my endometriosis. However,  I have been bleeding for the whole 11days, Heavier and Heavier, how much longer? Please Help!

I think I'm starting to stop finally! I didn't wear a tampon last night and there was minimal blood this morning. So hopefully I should be good finally! I guess I'll find out as the day goes on. My husband seems to think I'm going to bleed to death! He says he doesn't understand how "something can bleed for 12 days and not die!" hahahaha! Anyways, I'm going to call my doc today and ask her about it. I don't think their should be breakthrough bleeding AFTER we get our period, but who knows...I could be wrong. I'll let you know what the doc says. Hopefully you'll be ending soon, too!

I just wanted to add my two cents.  I was on the same pill for 4 years, always worked for me, and then all of a sudden when I was 18, I started having break through bleeding half-way through my cycle, giving me two periods in a month.  My mother ended up taking me to a specialist who said just like each woman's needs are different, each bcp is different.  All bcps have progesterone and estrogen in them, but at different levels to supplement what your body needs during it's cycle.  You might have to try several different kinds before they can find the right levels that work for you, but it's really the only way.  I finally found one that kept me from bleeding, and I stayed with it until I was 24.  Good luck and I hope this helps some.

To BabiiChopsta: I have the 4 week pack...I'm taking the sugar pills right now.

To Jaquie87: You know, my mom was saying the same thing. She was saying that maybe I was trying to get on the same cycle as her and my sisters again. When we all lived in the same house, we were all on AF at the SAME TIME! And then when my sister and I moved out and got on the pill, our cycles changed. So who knows, it may not be all that far fetched! My grandma seems to think it was the full moon that was out a couple weeks ago!! ha ha!

yeah i have experienced this.. how long have you been on these pills? because the dr. told me that some pills might not be right for a person if you start spotting. that is what its called. but when you start taking the next set of pills then your period should stop. and also if your really concerned then i would just go to the dr and ask

No, I'm on day 3 of the white pills. I'll start the new pack on Sunday...but I'm starting to wonder if I should start them early.

I'm having a similar problem, I've had my period for 14 days now. I took plan b this month so I assume that is what is screwing up. But this is SO weird! I have two girlfriends who also are having excessively long periods right now. Like over 10 days.......is this mother nature's strange way of getting us all on the same cycle ?!

aruba : do you have the 4 week pack or the 3 week pack?(the 4 week pack, the last week, - your period week - is sugar pills)

plan b is the morning after emergency contraceptive. and it can really mess with your period.

I've been on the pill for 2 years now, and this is only the second time this has happened to me. Let me know how everything goes for you! Good luck!

I'm not sure if you saw my comment to you on your last post, but this also happened to me this month. In fact, I'm now on day 11 of my period! This is the second time it's happened to me. A few days ago I was just wearing a panty liner, thinking I was ending, but last night I had to put in a tampon again! So I'm in the same boat as you. I called to make an appointment with my gyno because this is getting really rediculous! So, most likely this period will be extremely long. :(

It should stop but you still need to see ur doc for a different pill.. If you are having break through bleeding ur pills may not be strong enough & wouldnt provide the right amount of protection.  Good Luck
