Why is my period bright red, very watery/wet, and why is there so much?

I am 21 and my husband and I are trying for a baby so I am not on BC. There is so much, I am used to heavy but I am not used to it being soo much. It is very bright red as if you have cut your hand...that color. It is very slippery, wet, watery. I normally have so much pain I could take your head off....but I feel very little to no pain at all. I am not showing signs of pms that I normally do. I am so confused and can't find any information on google to correctly describe what is going on. Does anyone know??
