Why so much drama? (Caraboo / open forum)

I just read the post that was posted by Caraboo.  I'm just wondering if it's possible for everyone to cut the drama.  I enjoy coming to this post and I have found it very helpful...I also enjoy readin posts by others.  But sometimes....it just gets downright ridiculous.  I can understand why people are skeptical of some posts, particulalrly when the same poster seems to present conflicting stories (my favorite was dmjain).  And, we as reasonable, intelligent human beings, have the right and intuition to be a little skpetical sometimes.  However, to my knowledge, no one here personally knows anyone else...so what gives some people the right to call others liars, cheaters, etc.  We don't really know what's going on in the lives of others and the reasons why they post.  Also, if people seem to be posting something that just seems too far fetched to be true...approaching it with criticism is only giving that poster what they want, controversy.  My point is...can we cut the drama down a notch?  And by the way, this goes both ways....I also get equally irritated when people post back in response to something they themselves had posted and say things like they are never coming back to this post again, and the list goes on....if you don't like what someone says and can't be supportive, then don't say anything.  Also, I know from reading posts that most people tried to be supportive of caraboo's situation, but were confused (rightfully so), but then it got out of hand I think.  Does this make sense...sorry if I am rambling:)  Peace to all.

please dont change who you are! you are very concerned and caring and that is a plus on here. i understand the need to believe and trust people. sometimes i should probably take that info and use it myself a little more. there will always be another to push our buttons and yes, if we just didnt answer it would probably be best. but we are women hahah and sometimes we just CANT control our emotions. ;)

I hear what all of you are saying.  And yes, I see how she is now.  At times, I am a little too trusting of people and tend to give people the benefit of the doubt, which in many cases has turned around to bite me in the ass.  You would think I would have learned my lesson by now.  Anyway, thanks for the feedback and sometimes the comments on here that I may see as being harsh, also serve to kick into reality.  So, to everyone...keep posting what you feel.  In the long run, people will generally benefit from it.  It will take me some time to be able to be a little harsher on those who may deserve it....but maybe ignoring ridiculous posts would work best for me...sometimes it's hard not to say something though.  Have a good day!

I know how you feel...I don't know whether it's because I'm pregnant or just finally getting the hang of this site that I'm getting slowly irritated with people's naivity and ignorance. I have to force myself not to reply to some posts as I'd like to think I could follow my own advice once in a while of not giving people a hard time for the sake of it...I had to let the Caraboo one go as I just didn't get it and couldn't be bothered typing about it! I enjoyed reading everyone's replies though. I guess I understand where socgirl is coming from as I once did the same thing about Island Princess and now look...that's toned down a lot! Anyway - cheers for listening y'all and I have learnt that this is a VERY HORMONALLY charged forum so I am learning to give people a break in their replies!

Ahh..coffee!!!  How I miss caffenated beverages!  My doctor said it's ok to have up to 2 caffenated beverages a day, but before I became pregnant...I had at least 3 cups in the morning and 1 or 2 in the afternoon....i needed to cut back anyway.  But, i am jealous of all you coffee drinkers out there. :)

I'm glad that you are happy and that you are content with what you have. The world would be a better place if everyone could be more like you....thankful for what they have rather than focusing on what they don't have.

sorry for all of the confusion....that wasn't my intention.  It started out as one post (which I wish I would have thought more carefully about before I posted) and then became a different topic all together.  Anyway, I apologize for confusing anyone.

well it was for socgirl. but for any of you who said we were being harsh. you can only give so much and trust so much before their ignorance gets the better of you

thanks for the comment.  However, just ebcause I'm a social worker doesn't mean I know what i'm talking about all of the time.  I try to be as nonjudgemental as possible, but I, like everyone else, struggles with that at times and I too am fallible.  As I pointed out to mlskpage, I didn't carefully think about my post before I posted it.  She's right in that I probably am just adding to the drama....must be the pregnancy horomones....sometimes I read something and If i'm in a particularly bad mood, I think "come  on already..."  In retrospect, I think i should have followed my own advice and just ignored it if I didn't like what was going on.  But thanks for your comment....I just get sick of people being attacked on this page sometimes.

You seem very intellegent and I like what you do for a living.  I support you 100%  And I love how you don't really vocalize your opinion of the people who open threads seeking advice.  I was actually thinking of you yesterday when I was at brunch w/my sister and a couple of her friends.  Her friend was telling us that she is using a life coach and finds it very inspirational.  Her coach never has an opinion about her life or previous mistakes, in fact helps her come to terms w/ the mistakes and move on. She also helps her explore possibilities before making a choice and will never tell her what is wrong or right.  It maybe something I need (and some other people on this forum.)  Your right, there tends to be a little too much judgement passed on this forum and no one even knows eachother.  Just try to ignore it and continue your approach to the people who are looking for advice.  Your doing a good job, rightfully so, since you give advice for a living.  You must know what your talking about!

She started the post! When I posted a link about Princess Caraboo in the previous thread, I was just noting the similarities. Perhaps it's a coincidence, or perhaps not.

I also think it was unnecessary to start a whole new thread about it, if you're goal is to de-escalate the drama. Seems to me that just draws more attention to it.
