Why won't my period stop?

I'm 19 and my period hasn't stopped in over 6 years. My family doctor has put me on birth control but it didn't work. He said he thought I would grow out of it but I didn't.

Did you find anything out?

Weird. I would still find a good OBGYN. Ask around for references in your area. Mine made a HUGE difference with everything. I made the mistake of letting my doc put me on birth control at 15 for my bleeding issue instead of getting it taken care of, and 12 years later, I took myself off and that's when they found the tumor. It was keepibg it tiny and undetectable. Good luck and make sure you are eating plenty of iron to keep you from being anemic. You may have to get them to give you meds to stop your bleeding. They may be able to see what the issue is after you stop bleeding. Prayers and I hope you find out what is going on.

I will definitely do that. Thank you so much for the advice. You've helped me already.

That is not normal. Do you have nose bleeds, bleed on your body easily and bruise easily?

No I don't. The doctor also drew my blood several times to make sure I wasn't losing too much. But it came back normal each time

Interesting. You would have pain only if it was big...at least that was the case for me..mine was the size of an orange. I bled for 8 weeks straight...to the point I couldn't stand up to teach. The doc had to give me meds to make me stop bleeding, and then they found the fibroid. A second opinion never hurts. Are you going to a OBGYN or a normal physician?

No I'm not. The thing is, for one week out of every month I'll have a " normal " period. As in a normal flow and all the symptoms. But for the rest of the time it's just a steady flow. It's never been too heavy though.

I would get a different doc. Anything lasting over a month is a huge concern. You may have a fibroid or something.

Thank you for replying. I've been to this doctor ever since I was born. And every 6 months since this happened he's always told me the same thing. You'll grow out of it. He has examined me too and found nothing.
If I had a fibroid, would I have pain?
