I watched a special on Tyra and all she talked about that episode was that double uterus thing....sorry not sure what the proper term is....all the woman on there either had children or where expecting, they only issue they had was double the menstrual cycle and which one it was coming from! So it could be possible if you're trying to get pregnant is that your miscalculating your ovulation due to the double uterus
i just found out today that i have a double uterus? I am still surprised about it because all the paps i have had in the past never once told me that. Everyone says we are what God is called special children! Iam now 27 yrs old and have been trying to have children for the last 5 yrs with my fiance. I cant understand why it is so difficult to get pregnant! Does anyone have any answers for me?
I, too, was born with a double uterus (uteri) and double cervix with a vaginal septum separating the cervixes.
I had one child in 1986 and another in 2003 and two confirmed miscarriages (one in 2001 and another in 2005). Both of my boys were delivered by C-section for different reasons, but none listed just because of my own anomaly.
Tho' my anomaly was suspected as far back as 1992, I wasn't fully diagnosed with it until 2000.
So I'd say, "Yes! You can possibly have kids with this anomaly!!"
We're most definitely NOT alone. Several with our condition and pregnant have hit the news in recent years and months. When I first started hearing about this in the news, I didn't feel so much like a freak. Besides, no matter your physical condition, you are still the same person you were before - just that much more informed and, according to some stats on the subject, we're "one in a million"! ;)
hey I was ganna just let you know I have a double uterus as well. I have a healthy 3 year old daughter and am 23 weeks pregnant right now. my daughter was early at 35 weeks and the pregnancies consist of bedrest but having children isnt impossible.
Look up "double uterus" in MayoClinic.com for some good information. One of the first things they say is that sometimes it is not even diagnosed, meaning some women with unusual uteruses never know, and this certainly includes women who have children. I don't think a double uterus would necessarily cause difficulties with keeping a pregnancy. Some other forms of uterus shapes can -- for example, a bicorunate uterus is one that has a divider partway down the inside, and that divider (called a septum) has less blood flow than the rest of the uterus, so if an embryo implants there, it might not get enough blood supply, and miscarry. A double uterus wouldn't have this problem because it is two perfectly good uteruses.
