Women's problems

by Noja, Sep 29, 2005 12:00AM
I am a physically healthy 27year old woman who has never had a pap smear or mammogram. I've been feeling very lethargic of late, and no matter how much I'd like to get a full physical. What medical tests should I take?

Make an appt. for an annual physical. Explain that this is your FIRST exam and he/she will do all of the appropriate tests.
Good luck. But I wonder why you have waited sooo long?

I agree, you should schedule an appointment with a/your doctor. Tell him/her the situation - h/she will decide what type of tests you should take or the appropriate tests for your situation.

are you sexually active? woman usually begin to see a gynocologist once a year for a physical, pap smear at age 18 unless they are sexually active and/or medical reasons then its sooner. however, you said that you are healthy but one never knows whats going on inside of our bodies unless we have a check up and the pap (for example) is sent to the lab. sometimes symptoms occur (like unusual discharge, soreness, any lumps etc..) which force us to go see a dr. sooner to get a diagnosis, but other times something may be of concern and you wont know about it until you get a check up. does that make sense? you need to keep up with your body and take preventative measures so you remain healthy.

It is VERY important to get med check ups as a women there are so many things for women to worry about. It is important to find a Dr. that you feel comfortable with and can talk to.

hi there!! i'm 27 too, and its very important for you to get a physical exam. i don't know if you're sexually active, but if so, its time for a pap smear. they are not scarry, just uncomfortable to do for the first time. find a good doctor that you will feel comfortable with(male or female)doing this procedure. it took some time for me to get all my exams done because i didn't know what to do, but it is very important to do these things asap!!! good luck and don't worry!!
