Worried and have a question about pregnancy and diet pills.

Hello,first of all I want to see if anyone can tell me if someone has gone through anything similiar. My daughter is 21 and has 2 children. And was taking bc pills and missed like 3 in one cycle fpr the month of January.And she decided to stop taking that pack and wait for the next cycle well she didn't get a cycle in February and then about 3 weeks ago she went to a doctor and had blood draw and tests done to see if it was ok to start a diet plan with pills. So she got the ok from the doctor and she took about a weeks supply and then mentioned to me that she had not had a cycle since January and I told her not to take anymore and to take a pg test well she took 2 of them and she got a neg. but that was 2 wks ago and still no cycle so today I got her another pg test and low and behold she is pregnant.So now our concern is about the weeks supply of diet pills she took.Should she be concerned about the baby's health? We would really be grateful for any advice in this matter. Thank you very much.

She needs to see an ob asap and tell him about the meds she took.

I can't believe a doc gave her the meds without a pregnancy test first.

i dont say this to scare you, my mom took diet pills when she was pregnant with my sister( she was 40 and NOT planning to get pregnant) my sister has loads of problems, they have not linked them to the diet pills, but it was back when the pills had ephedra(sp?) in them, but again my mom was 40, my step father 51, so it could have been age related, i just thought id share my story, hope others out there have positive storys with the diet pills

i truly hope your daughters pregnancy is healthy with a healthy baby! again im not tryin to scare you, more then likely she will be fine

wow 21 with 2 kids and one on the way how does she do it lol
i am sure the baby will be fine people do a lot worse then that when there first pregnant and there babies more often then not turn out perfectly healthy.
in our days the diet pills are just a load of poop anyway they probly dont have anything else in them but sugar.
if you can tell us which ones she is taking that will give me a clearer picture but like the first poster said back in the day some pills did contain substances similar to speed but now days shell be right please ask your doctor though and cease taking them pills i wish your daughter all the luck 3 kids>O

hi, i think most problems occur from prolonged use in pg but she had only 1 week so id try not to worry too much as whats done is done and she will only stress more witch is just as bad for baby . see a doc asap to dicuss possibilties to clear your mind ! i had x rays and all sorts of internal invesigations before i found out i was pg and he turned out fine . good luck x x

I think it will be fine... but of course, I am not a Dr.  People do much much worse and the baby is fine, if she didn't know, she shouldn't beat her self up over it :) Good Luck!

That short of time should not effect her baby.  It's usually the continued use during the stages that are developing that can be affected by diet pills. Of course, she needs to mention it to her ob, but try not to worry about it that much.

ive had an iud for about a year and 3 months now i took diet pills a month ago and took a pregnancy test 3 weeks later and it was positive. i think you are not supposed to take diet pills while in any sort of birth control.

your concern should not be about taking diet pills while on birth control it should be about taking diet pills while pregnant. you need to see a doctor
