Yasmin Birth Control Pill - Questions about side effects when stopping

Hello,

I have been on Yasmin for 6 months.  I have stopped because my husband and I are considering having another baby.

Well, I decided to search for some info. in regards to stopping yasmin and came across a message forum.  (not this one)

Okay, now, my concern is the effcts after STOPPING yasmin.
I understand that all bc pills are different and so are we women as far as side effects go.  I have read postings about women who stopped taking yasmin and have experienced the following:

- anxiety, panic attacks, heart palpitations and fluttering
- depression
- excessive weight gain
- hair loss

*I already have a prob. with depression, anxiety and panic attacks, so I am currently on medication.  (Will be weaned off if not good during the pregnancy - just wanted you to know I am thinking it all through:)

*It is one thing to gain maybe 5 lbs. or to gain weight when pregnant.  I have been pregnant before and understand weight gain comes with this.  LOL  HOWEVER, my concern is mainly the emotional / mental side effects after stopping yasmin, as well as excessive weight gain after stopping.  (while not pregnant)

Has anyone either Experienced these side effects after stopping yasmin OR known of anyone who has or know anything about these effects.  I am guessing they are caused from the drop in the hormone levels.  Also, I have heard about primrose oil and flaxseed oil being good to regulate hormones or help PMS symptoms.  (I was mainly on yasmin for PMS symptoms / moods and to regulate my periods)

Thank you!

Jasmine actually killed my friend, due to an embolism (blood cloths). Thank god for good doctors that brought her back to life. She was on the jasmine for not even 2 and a half months. Stupid doctors and even the company for even precribing such a pill to a 47 yr old woman just to regulate her period. I nearly lost her forever. Anyone over 35 or even younger PLEASE think about it, is it worth losing your life.

I was put on yasmin in november 2008 to combat weight problems caused by my previous pill. It did nothing for the weight problem (my appetite increased) and my sex drive went down so low that I didnt need to be on the pill - I didnt want sex at all so no chance of getting pregnant. It also caused dryness. I stopped taking it in Feb this year and omg the difference is amazing. My sex drive has returned to normal and everything is good - starting to loose weight etc. Only problem is now I have a new partner and want to go back on the pill but not that one as I want to be normal. Any ideas on what I could take? I am off to see the doc next week so anything would be helpful.

I was on Yazmin for about 5 - 6 yrs and im 26. I didnt have very good skin before I started it and it did help settle it down. I have always struggled with my weight but it did not seem to make any difference with that. I didnt notice any problems with depression. I have found my sex drive has gone right down and am also quite dry now but I cant be sure if this is since I started this pill. I came off the pill Feb 09 to try for a baby and fell pregnant within a week (very unexpected). My baby was born in Dec 09 and I just started back 2 days ago on Yazmin.  One thing I did suffer from after stopping the pill was an extremely bad breakout of big hard under the skin spots all over my arms, neck back and face. The only place I have ever suffered from spots before is on my face. I put this down to the pregnancy but now realise after reading these reviews it was more likley down to coming off the pill.  Reading all these reviews has made me a little worried but as I seemed fine all those yrs I will continue with it for now and see how it goes.

I was on Yaz for alittle over a year. It was good in the beginning, but after I got about 6 months into it, things changed. My periods actually got worse, I didnt have any acne nor cramping though. I began not to care as much as what happened to me, if I woke up the next day, then I wasn't to concerned because I was alive.
However, in December of 2009, I stopped taking my last pill pack which ended in the last week of june, which gave me my period the first week of January of 2010. I didn't have my period until February. I was still active, but he wore protection. I've taken 4 pregnancy tests since. But having your period once in the matter of 6 months without a chance of spotting scares me. I've asked for help and all people do is assume that I am pregnant. All the tests have came out negative. I want to get a test done at the my OB-GYN, but I am scared too.
I did hear that Yaz does cause blood clots. Does anyone know if this is exactly true? If it is, would a blood clot actually stop my period or would it make it so I wouldn't have a period?

Yaz is a horrible birth contorl, and scares me. From the recalls, the nonreassurance from my doctor, I dont recommend this to anyone!!! If anyone has any advice to this, please respond.

Thanks!!
