Yeast Infection and Pregnant

by drdra10, Jun 14, 2007 12:00AM
I am 5 weeks pregnant and I just got back from my OBGYN.  I have a yeast infection and she prescribed Monistat 7.  I have another friend that is pregnant and her OBGYN said that you can't use Monistat 7 during the first trimester.  Now I'm completely confused.  Has anyone else used Monistat during their first trimester?  Is it safe?

Thanks!!!

I don't know about being pregnant and using that, but I know my doctor said that a lot people are allergic to it and it makes the yeast infection worse.  She gives me a perscription for boric acid capsules to insert.  This works wonderfully and usually in one night.  It is safe, unless it is in your digestive system.  It should be okay to use while you are pregnant.  But you'd need a perscription.
