Yeast Infection keeps coming back

by Alexis24, Oct 26, 2009 01:16PM
Hi! My name is Alex and i have a question. I've had a yeast infection before and it completely healed treatment. But after a few months a got one again and i went to the doctor and got a similair medicine (a 2 pills, one per week, and a cream for the outside). But it didnt go away so I went back and got 3 pills to insert into the vagina and a cream, but it didn't work either, probably because I only used the cream once a day, and you're supposed to use it twice a day. ( my mistake). So then I just got an extra tube of cream to continue putting it on because I had done it wrong and the burning/ itching went away, but it still hurt when i pee so I used the cream again (even though you're supposed to you it for 1 week, only). Then the burning during peeing went away and all the other extra sensitve places were fine again, but a soon as i stopped using the cream it cam back! And I can't keep on using it because its supposed to be over by now and the tube is almost empty! I dont know why it won't just go away!
What should I do now? Thanks for your help :)

I have had this exact same problem for mos! I am a diabetic (sugars are pretty well controlled). I went to gyn. and had pap earlier this yr. During exam he said he didn't see anything. The symptoms come and go throughout the month and get worse after sex and before period. But both docs said I was fine. I too have been using over the counter creams and presc. pills in higher doses but they don't help. I am stumped as well. The itching and swelling I get is horrible at times. I just try to wash myself a few times a day and use the extra cream that comes with the over the counter stuff for itching. Try using  cotton panties and stay away from perfumed detergents and body washes. I notice more irritation when I use "fanicer" panties not made of cotton . Good luck!
