Yeast Infection....What about oral sex?

by lutinlady, May 09, 2007 12:00AM
I have a yeast infection and am using Monistat 3 to treat it. I started Tuesday night so will use the last suppository Thursday night. I only see my boyfriend on the weekends, and this is the last time I'll see him before I leave for the summer across the country. (I know, what incredible timing). Would it be okay to receive oral sex Friday night provided I rinsed out any excess medication?

Just because it is a 3 day medication doesn't mean that you don't have a yeast infection anymore.  It usually takes at least 7 days for a yeast infection to clear.  I don't know what might happen if he did perform oral sex but it doesn't sound like the most sanitary of ideas.  What about you performing oral sex on him?  There has to be other ways in which you can be intimate.

Yeah....it's just. Well, I had a lot of infections at the beginning of the year, and so for a while all we were doing was oral sex, for him. And then I went on birth control and bled for a month...so it was more of the same. Finally, two weeks ago, I could receive again (for the first time since November). And it was the first time I've ever really been able to relax for oral and it was AMAZING. I just....arrgh! I want pleasure too! I guess it's frustrating to have gotten ANOTHER infection just when I was getting some reciprocity (and orgasms).

But...I don't want to send him down to a habitat from hell.

Maybe things will work out in September.

I used to be on birth control pills and had chronic yeast infections.  What helps is acidophilus pills, which is the culture found in yogurt.  If you take a pill a day it should help regulate the amount of infections you get.  They don't go away all together but they aren't as frequent.  I hear your frustration though, it's unfortunate that birth control pills help control getting pregnant by causing spotting and yeast infections.  You never have sex, that's how you don't get pregnant....lol.  I'm sorry that this is happening and you don't get to have any pleasure....good luck and hopefully you will be all cleared up in time for the weekend.
