Yeast Infections

by anamarieski, Aug 11, 2005 12:00AM
I have been sexually active and have recently stopped due to the end of a relationship.
Though each time that we had sex afterwards I would get a yeast infection.
Is there a way to avoid a yeast infection with after or even before sex?
Also if you currently have a yeast infection can it affect when you do get your period? I am just at stopping my birth control becuase I am not active but I have a yeast infection, yet my period has not shown up yet.  I was concerned that just stopping my birth control and having a yeast infection is affecting the timing of when the cycle would show it's evidience.

Suggestions?

complete your pills for this cycle.  I have heard of women having yeast infections after intercourse.. but i cannot recall the reason.  Sorry.  The reason you want to finish your pill pack for this month is that you want to stay regular.  And stopping pills 1/2 way will induce your cycle.  Unless this is what you want

hope this helps

Years ago with my first real relationship I did the some thing and it ended up that my other half had a yeast infection too and was not being treated for it.  I would get rid of it and get it back.

Birth control pills can cause yeast to proliferate. It's the hormones. That's why so many women get yeast infections. Your period shouldn't be affected by a yeast infection and teletubies is correct about partners passing it back and forth. You might try Garden of Life Fungal Defense. It's a yeast detox and its very good. Feel better.

I posted a comment for someone else having problems with yeast infections.  After sex run a shallow bath, just enough water to cover your private area, add about 1-2 cups of white vinegar and sit in the bath for 5 mins.  Not only does it freshen you up (and better for you than douching), but it balances you out.  I suggest you try this easy and inexpensive remedy before you discontinue your pill.  It's really worked for me.  Anytime I feel like I may have a yeast infection coming on, I take a vinegar bath.
