Yeast infection questions (continued with Free Spirit )

Yeah, i'm deff. taking your advice, free spirit. Thanks very much =) I started getting ill feelings recently which made me paranoid about herpes... but the bumps i'm getting while theres quite a few of them are still very small and they're not painful just itchy, and again they're still small. which is strange to me because i've had these bumps in my vagina for 9 days now (since christmas) and it seems like everyone's been saying herpes turns into big open sores within a few days, which hasn't happened. It's possible I either just got sick and i'm over reacting or maybe possibly I'm just stressed and worried about it so the feeling ill is all in my head ( which ppl say is possible sometimes ) or maybe it really is an STD or just some type of infection i really don't know. But it's been going on for over a week, theres really not much pain at all just itching, and the bumps are still pretty small. I recently have been having a white discharge. When it first comes out it's kind of runny yet still thick and white but in the spots where it sits in certain areas in my vagina it's thick. Some people say its possible to get bumps during a yeast infection and others say it maybe possibly be from shaving or the type of soap i'm using. But if it's from shaving wouldnt the irritation just be on the outside of the skin where I use the razor? As I said before i've never had sex, but I've had oral sex performed on me by my ex boyfriend. But ... i really don't remember seeing any type of open sore on his mouth. I'm very confused =(

Hey -- saw your post from the other day - did you go to the Doc?

Last time I had a YI - I was convinced it was herpes (just freaking out) and it wasn't - it was yeast, but it was WEIRD... not the typical YI I've had in the past. After 2 diflucan pills & some cream for the irritation it was gone and I'm taking Acidophilous every day to keep my levels "normal"... I think when anything goes wrong "down there" we have a tendency to freak. Since you're never had sex the chances of you have herpes is low.. But definitely go to your doc to get it checked if you haven't already.

good luck!!

I haven't gone to the doctor yet, I guess I just haven't had the chance. I'm hoping my mom can take me whenever she can. Yeah some people say if you've had oral sex performed on you you can still get it but they say oral herpes is different from genital herpes in the sense that oral can only be spread when the sores are open and "weeping" most of the time, and i seriously don't remember seeing any type of sores on his mouth haha. My friend James says that oral herpes is much harder to spread and it's rare that they get it actually inside their mouth it's usually on their lips or something. But the fact that you had a yeast infection that was similar to this does make me feel a little better. Hopefully this ill feeling is just me being paranoid lol. Thank you =)

YI are a pain, royally.   This past one, which went on for 8 weeks (2 neg tests so we didn't treat, assumed it was a flare) I ended up with a line of 4 or so bumps on one side and 3 on the other just on the inside on the vulvar lips that almost looked like little volcanoes. Red and inflammed at the base, kind of off white and coarse looking at the top. I had the head gyn check me out and she was at a loss at the time. She had never seen anything like it. But bang, yeast culture was positive this time and the diflucan helped. My discharge had gone from thick white and chunky to just thick and pasty in the folds and lots of goo ever where else.

I no longer believe that there is such a thing as a typical candida infection. People are to different. Herpes would change, and you would feel sick just before the sores popped out.  As an fyi though, they (scientists) do believe oral sex is a risk factor for yeast infections. There seems to be a modestly high correlation between the two.

I wouldn't wait much longer. It's not worth suffering and increasing the inflammation if it is a simple yeast infection. If the doc doesn't see anything on the slide, ask them to culture it to make sure.

Kay i'll do this. Now that everyone's telling me all this information about yeast infections that I had no idea about i'm starting to believe more and more that it could be a yeast. One girl even told me that flu-like symptoms also come with YI's because since your immune system weakens your whole body suffers from it, and whew did that give me some relief hha. And also the fact that I mean ... its been 9 days and herpes would have caused these bumps to to grow into open sores by now, which they're still not there's quite a few of them but they're very small. So i'm starting to doubt more and more that it's herpes. But you can't be too careful.

Lots of disinformation out there.  If you got flue like symptoms from a yi, then I would have been sick for a minimum of 8 weeks straight!  Not very likely.  You can have a localized immune response without affecting your whole body.  I agree, if it was herpes, I believe the spots would have been clearing up by now.

Woooo haha I really hope that's true. They're just real itchy but it's been 9 days and they havent even grown or changed much at all.
