oh ok. well i do know cervical cancer runs in my family. they caught it in my mom after my little brother was born. she said they removed the cancerous part of her cervix (which resulted in 2 miscarriages afterwards but i don't know if that is related or not) and had to go in every 3 months for pap smears for 2 years then every 6 months for 5 years now it's once a year. except last year because she had abnormal pap smears. i really hope it isn't cancerous and it's just one of those random abnormal pap smears.....
thanks for replying and setting my mind at ease.
I had a coloscopy done about 13 yrs ago, due to an abnormal pap smear. What they mean by abnormal pap from what they told me was that there is more white cells then red cells, which can produce cancer. So the point of the coloscopy is to remove part of the cervix and send it off for a biopsy. If it comes back abnormal maligment or benign they will send you back and do a similar procedure only this time they freeze the cervix, and chissel off the bad cells. They did that to me and i have had normal pap smears since. Only difference is, is that i have to get one done every 3 months, which is a pain in the neck but well worth it if they are able to catch it sooner if it comes back.
