about chlamydia

Today I found out that I have chlamydia. I've been in a relationship for about a year now and he has been my only sexual partner and he says he hasn't been with anyone either and I believe him. How long could I have had this disease and not have known are there other ways to get it besides actual sex?

It IS possible to have it for that long and NOT know. BUT usually symptoms come in like 3 months or less. Did you have symptoms? Or did you just get your yearly done??

chlamydia can only be transmitted through sex with someone else who has they disease. It stems back thousands of years and so each person who has it caught it from someone else they had sex from.
It's just not possible (as far as i'm aware) for 2 people to have it and have not been with anyone else....one of you MUST have had sex with someone else who has it to catch it...that's just the way it manifests.
You can have chlamydia for quite a while and not realise it because you don't always get symptoms.
You can catch it from oral, anal and vaginal sex.
