The stuff tastes nasty. My first test was inconclusive so I had to come back and take the four hour test which I barely passed.

Not too bad though, just sat in the waiting room with BF and watched dr. Phil. Then, we went out to lunched as I was starving!!!

Yeah you have to fast for 12 hours before the test.  You're not even allowed to have water.  It stinks so go early in the morning.  I HATED the drink (which you have to guzzle down within 5 minutes) but I know a few people who liked it.
I passed the first time thank God!

If your lab is humane, they will have the stuff you drink refrigerated to very cold.  Then it just tastes like overly sweet orange soda.  It is even carbonated.  If they don't refrigerate it, you might even ask if you can put ice in it and drink it, though I wouldn't be surprised if this is not allowed.  Anyway, it is not that horrible; (in a way it helps that you are hungry because although it's pretty cloying, at least it is food of a sort).  You don't eat before it, and after you drink it, you get blood drawn one hour to the hour after you finish.  So during that hour, you don't get to eat either (but I think they let me drink water then...can't remember for sure).  The blood test checks how your empty body reacts to a known amount of glucose in a set amount of time.  THEN you get to eat.

I could eat before mine, in fact she said just make sure to add protein to whatever I ate.
I had no problem w/the drink. It was about the size of a small dixie cup and very cold. I might have drank the whole thing if she would have let me, but, sweets are my thing right now.

In UK they give u Lucazade, maybe thats what ur drinking and just dont like it. When I done mine it was warm aswell yuk, but I quite like Lucazade so it was nice when I had it the first time cold. U cant put ice in well thats what I was told cos it dilutes it a bit. Maybe u could buy ur own lucazade make it cold and get them to measure how much u need.

oo the joys of pregnancy hehe!

I remember when I had to do mine with the first one. It was the Carbonated extra sweet orange soda tasting stuff. They actually gave me the 12? ounce bottle at my previous appointment so I could put it in the fridge. I don't remember about the fasting thing, if so, that would have been toture and will be again this time around. I know that I wasn't allowed to put ice in it because it would water it down and it would be as effective. I was lucky. I was okay the first time around, so i didn't have to do the 3 hour test.
