annoying clots!

I came off of the pill around 5 months ago, and since then I keep getting large dark red thick clots for my period, which last around 3-4 days, I am not really bleeding normally since I stopped contraception, is this normal?  It's very disabling as I'm just bleeding everywhere!! Thanks!
