bacterial vagnosis

I'm a little confused is BV considered an std? My gyno told me it wasn't, but when I looked it up at the CDC website it was listed as an STD! So, what is it? If its an std then I'm gonna slap the sh*t outta my bf!

BV is the most common vaginal infection among women of childbearing age . BV can even occur in women who have never had sex!
The Centers for Disease Control include bacterial vaginosis on its list of sexually transmitted diseases, or STDs, although the exact cause of this common women's health issue is not known
Although there are apparent links between sexual activity and bacterial vaginosis, current medical knowledge of the condition also suggests other, non-sexual causes of BV. Technically, it is not a sexually transmitted disease. So its not an STD

i wouldnt slap the **** out of him.... lol unless of course u think he needs it!!
