bicornuate uterus, ovarian cysts and pregnancy

I'm really hoping to get some answers to these questions. I'm 23, married six months and tried the pill for one month after which I decided it wasn't for me.  After going off, I have had three instances of ovarian cyst ruptures. My cycles have stayed regular though after they legthened back to noral 29-30 days.  That I know of, I have not yet been pregnant..however, I found out durring ultrasounds to look at the cyst issues, that I have a bicornuate uterus with a significant septum dipping into my uterus. This month, which is one cycle after the last cyst issue, (which the doc says is shrinking on its own and almost gone) I started to feel really sore breasts (one more than the other but both are tingly) around day 15 of my cycle and that is unusual since the only other time my breasts were this sore was on the pill... I'm also very thirsty a lot, more tired than usual (want to sleep lots), have off and on headaches and some cramping - odd twinges in my abdomen - especially at night, I feel like i have pms cramps which I never get until I actually have my period or the day before.  I am now on day 18 of my cycle and feel increasingly pregnant - but is it possible to feel symptoms this early - my husband and I have had intercourse unprotected from the day right after my period ended - so day 8 and nine - maybe day ten as well - since I don't know when I really ovulate, I don't know if I would have conceived and I also don't know if these are just symptoms of ovulation - or the left over cyst - could you please tell me - could I be feeling pregnancy symtp. so soon?  befuddled

Annie i'm i almost the exact smae boat as you.  In Feb I was told i had a bicornuate.  THe reason I got an ultrasound was because I had SEVERE sharp pains one morning my pd started.  I just moved to the area so the earliest i could get into a ob was 2 weeks later.  I had pain in my lower abdomen .  This was new to me but the doc insisted that it was me ovulating.  However i have had the pain sharp and dull on and off in the exact same spot for over 4 months now and odd periods.  After a very painful day I made another appointmnet with him.  I want a new dr cause he doesnt' explain anythign to me!  All he told me last time over the phoen was i had a bicornuate which just ment "high rish pregnancy" and that was it.  i'm been driving myself nuts trying to research this since my husband and i are only using a barrier and not the pill since we are marreid and stable financially.  I understand You fustration

I'm 27 and pregnant for the first time. It took us nine months of trying before we got a positive test result.  I had been feeling down about not getting pregnant so we decided to take some of the pressure off. As a result that month we didnt do a pregnancy test until day 30 of my cycle. I definitely recommend waiting until later in the cycle instead of testing early.
In my 13th week I had some bleeding that was quite red so I went to the doctor and was put on bedrest and sent for an ultrasound.  I found out that I have a bicornuate uterus.  My doctor took me off bedrest but wants me to take things very easy, especially because this is my first pregnancy.  She told me about the higher chances of miscarriage and pre-term labor.  My baby is in the right horn and the doctor is hoping that the baby will grow in a direction so that it will have the most amount of room.
I'm in my 16th week now, which is halfway to 30 weeks (my goal I would like to make it to, or past). I'm praying that everything will be fine with my baby.  We have a doctors test this week and I plan on asking more questions about my condition as well as asking to be referred to a specialist. I'll let you know if I find anything else out.

Hey Annie,

At 15yrs old I was pregnant,At my second scan it revealed I had a bicornuated uterus,
I didn't really know what it meant at the time, but in the later months of my pregnancy  the baby had trouble turning into the right position, the hospital offered  to try to turn the baby under ultrasound and  they'd  use there hands to turn the baby, but at 15  I was scared as hell as it was so I opted not to go through with  that plus it didn't really sound safe I was thinking the cord might get tangled around the baby anyway I had a c-section, the doctor said to me after wards I might have trouble having another baby but I proved him wrong 2 years later I had  another c-section to deliver my other daughter ,I 'm happy to say I have two healthy  beautiful young ladies ,since having  my girls I've had one miscarriage  which I think was totally unrelated  to my bicornuate uterus .

anyways good luck  with it all  take care

Hi Annie, Don't worry too much about bicornuate uterus, because I was pregnant when  I was 25, in my second month of pregnancy I had spotting so did a scan that's when I found out that I have a bicornuate uterus.  They asked me to stop traveling and take bed rest for few weeks.  I followed all the precautions as per doctor's advice and now have a healthy 2 year old boy

I am going through the same thing right now!  I have a bicornuate uterus as well ontop of endometriosis and ovarian tumors.  I am 24 years old and had a second laparoscopy to remove two teratomas (benign) one in each ovary this January.  With that said I have been one constant birth control to subside my periods.  I was also diagnosed with Interstitial cystitis and was getting relief from the pain by changing my diet.

Well June and July I was a little lax with my b.c.  pills because I thought my body was trying to get a period since I was spotting brown.  (This happened right before my surgery and my GYN told me to get off them and get a period.)  But when I was off my pills I didn't spot or bleed or even cramp.  One morning, about a week ago, my boyfriend and I went to have intercourse and he barely penetrated when an immense pain and a pool of black blood came.  We obviously didn't do anything and I called my doctors office that morning.  I told the phone nurse what happened and she asked me if I thought I was pregnant.  I have been with the same person for a year so the possibility was there... She then told me to take a home test before coming in even though it might show negative if conception was within the past two weeks.  I was also told that because of my uterus shape it might show negative as well... I have also heard that one side can still ovulate while the other is pregnant.

I normally would get a period that was 8days long with cramps that knocked me out this past "period" consisted of one day of black blood and clots then bleeding the next but very light blood, barely there.  The nurse practitioner that I saw told me that sometimes when semen enters it can cause this to happen.  But to me that doesn't explain anything that I went through.  That seemed a little made up if you ask my non medical opinion but that is beside the point

I am experiencing bad low back pains, bad nausea after eating and constant, fatigue, extremely moody and irritated and on/off headaches.  Plus for the past week I have had uterus spasms, just random twitching.  So I thought wait a month before starting a pill pack to see if I get a real period.  I am so confused and my doctors office just looks at me like I have a third eye.   Is it possible to be pregnant and it not show on the test since it is too early or because my uterus shape was my initial question... and I am nervous that I could be and it is testing negative.  it seems I am not alone.  I don't know what to do...

What day was it that you tested and it was positive?? How many weeks along??

Any advice I would appreciate!!

Hello every one, I am seven weeks pregnant with two ovarian cysts. I'm kind of scared because I'm not really sure what to expect. To Annie I do believe that you can feel pregnancy symptoms early because I felt them and the test kept coming up negative. I would test everyday( I used the dollar Tree preg. test) Well the one day that I did not test I got extremely ill and went to the emergency room where I found out that I was pregnant. They then did some blood test and my numbers were like 38 so they didn't know if I had a misscariage or what they call an ectopic pregnancy. Come to find out I was very early in my pregnancy. Good luck!!!

Hi there just reading about you concern and thought I'de help if I could.
I'm 23 and my husband and I have been trying to have a baby now for 3 years.  Well the doctor has been treating my husband for 2 years for low sperm mobility.  We just found out a week ago that I am 6 weeks pregnant.  YEAH!!!  I had some bleeding yesterday and went to the hospital just to make sure because we have been trying soooooooooooo long.
I had an internal ultarsound (fun) and they found that I have bicornuate uterus.  After all these years!!
I have another ultarsound in 10 days because they couldn't hear a heart beat.  So hopefully there is nothing going on!!
Well see in 10 days.

me again - christie, thanks for your no nonsense answer - I do know you are right.  the thing i guess I was really asking is if anyone has symptoms so early - I know I can drive myself nuts with this, so it's my resolve to relax and wait.  My husband and I are not really trying right now, but because we are not against getting pregnant in the near future, we are only using barier methods... the thing is that once in a while we find ourselves without a condom around (which would be bad if we were only dating and not stable - but that isn't the case) - so what I have decided is to use an ovulation prediction kit next month and track my cyles in more detail so I can avoid some of this speculation - what I am wondering is if anyone has had real success with these kits...
also, I have a bicornuate uteru - it's heart shaped and so although I should still be able to conceive and may have no problems, the chances of miscarriage or premature labor are higher - what I am also wondering is if it is harder to conceive with this condition - if anyone knows - and I would love to hear of someone who has the condition but has had success more than failed pregnancy - as you can guess, this is scary for me seeing as I haven't had a child yet. thanks.... unsure

Annie, my best advice is to just wait and see.  No amount of internet speculation will answer your question.  Many ovarian cysts can cause identical symptoms as pregnancy.

Everyone wants to know before they miss a period if they are pregnant, but the truth is, if you get a negative you will have to retest a few days later anyway.  If you get a faint positive, you will drive yourself crazy wondering if you really saw the line or not.  Better to wait until your period is late--then you will have more confidence in the test result.

It's hard, but just treat yourself in a healthy manner (if you are trying to conceive you should be anyway) and test when you miss your period.

Good luck!
