biopsy came back abnormal?

I have recently had 3 or 4 papsmears throughout my prgnancy and before and they all came back abnormal.
They did a biopsy ... I think thats what it's called, where they take 3 samples of the abnormal part of the cervix.
The biopsy came back abnormal and they wanted to freeze that portion that was abnormal.
I didnt show up for the procedure due to the fact that I was scared out of my mind!
Should I go through with it? Does it hurt? What would happen if I ended up no doing it?
Sorry theres soo many questions, but my husband wants me to go through with it and im sooo scared that its insane.

I love how everyone says 'mild cramping'. I had this done 2 months ago and my nurse told me she had a kind of indicator of pain and it was directly related to the amount of pain a woman has when she's on her periods. If your cramps are pretty bad, it will hurt pretty bad. If you dont get cramps, it won't be that bad. Mine was horrible. I couldnt stop a few tears escaping, and its not a quick and finished pain. The cramps caused stayed with me for the next day before they subsided.
Sadly I have just gotten results of latest papsmear and turns out it didnt take. I dont want to have cryo done again. Less than anything do I want it done again. Will have to talk to doctor about alternatives or possibly get a 2nd opinion.

I too had the cryo done and it was mostly uncomfortable. It felt like a lot of heavy pressure. There was cramping after the procedure but all in all it was worth it.

I had the cryotherapy about a year ago.
It is very painful...I remember it being like labor.
i had very bad pain and bleeding for a week or so.
Is it safe to do while pregnant?
Are you still pregnant?
Listen....if they are recommending it....you have to get it done...
I had several paps and colposcopies over the last few years and I went from accute...mild and then severe
displaysia.
They froze the cells and as it was very uncomfortable...I had to have it done.
I would much rather face that than cancer.
When your cells are abnormal and changing rapidly...you really have no choice.
You will be ok as long as you get it done and follow up with your paps as recommended.
It def is not a pleasant thing to go through....but you need to have it done.
And then afterward..no more worrying and waiting for your pap results.
They say it re occurs in less than 5 % of us.
Good Luck!

Love Jack

Hi...maybe my tolerance to pain is alot different than yours.
It was extremely painful for me....
I have been in labor twice and that's what I compare it to.
I know that I have had...very painful labors that have lasted many hours...
I also know girl friends that have had a back ache and mild pain whlie they delivered.
I hope the original posters' experience is much more pleasant than mine was.
It is something that needs to be done.
Sorry if my opinion of my experience was something unfathomable...
I was honest as I always am when answering posts.

My friend also had this done and said it hurt so bad she almost cried. She could barely stand the pain. I don't mean to scare you with the pain.
But if your Dr. thinks this needs to be done then you should definatly make another appointment. That isn't something that you want to put off. I know it's scary, but you don't want to end up being in a worse situation because you didn't get it done. Call your Dr. before hand and maybe they can give you something to help you relax and maybe help with the pain.

johnasse- I think that everybody's body is different and reacts to pain differently. For instance, when I had an IUD put in, everybody told me that I would feel mild pain, but for me it was BAD. I have never had this procedure before, but for one woman it might be like labor and another it might be mild. Every womans body is different and everybody reacts to pain differently. I don't doubt that jacksynn was in pain if she says she was. I don't know, maybe every Dr. does something a little differently?

hi..o.k. i don't know where "jack" went to get the surgery done but the cryo surgery does not hurt!!! the doctor will explain what is going to happen and when its done they insert a long object into you that is uncomfortable but does not hurt and they freeze the cells and its over. Mild cramping, lil bleeding and thats it, all over with pain killers, if u need them, its no big deal....good luck, not the end of the world....

My sister had the freezing, cryo ____something??? She only had mild cramping and it got rid of all of the abnormal cells. She has had normal paps for about 8 years now.  Personally, I'd have it done. Sorry that you are so scared.
