birth control pill side effects

A lot of people in here are on birth control, and a lot of people have complained of various side effects.

I've been on Estrostep Fe since around February of 2005, and had the usual adjustment side effects then (mood swings, etc). Lately, however, I have been both very dry and very itchy down there. I've also had an active sex life for the first time in a while (in 2005 I was having sex maybe 1-2 times a week, now it's everyday). I also used lubricated condoms then so I don't really recall having dryness issues, though I might not have noticed. Could the birth control cause dryness and itching? I tested all negative for STDs.

What side effects have you experienced from your birth control? (and which birth control are you on)

I am on yasmin and have been for 4 months. The first month was HORRIBLE. I really thought I was going to kill myself or someone else. I got on it because I have fibrocystic breast disease (PAINFUL lumps that show up after ovulation.) The lumps were bigger and hurt worse the first month. I made it through though and have not had lumps since. My breasts still hurt in the same spot, but not as badly. My periods are lighter and have so far started the same day. I have cramps before my period, but not during. Other than the first month, no other side effects (except good ones.) Although it does not really help with my pms or anxiety.

Dryness is common on the pill. Since you do not have fertile mucus, many women report feeling dry. I happen to have thick, white, creamy discharge instead of clear "welcome sperm" discharge haha.

I am on Ortho-Tri-Cyclen, and have been for over a year.  I've never really had any side effects, in fact if anything, I think being on the pill has decreased the severity of my cramps and helped do wonders to regulate my periods (I used to sometimes be late 2-3 weeks or occasionally even skip).

Do you shave/wash down there?  Have you always used the same soap?  Do you possibly wash your underwear with too much detergent?  These things can all cause it as well.
