birth control question

by need to get this out of my head, Apr 04, 2006 12:00AM
If you are a sunday starter on the pill(Well atleast my pill) it says that you have to be on the pill for one week before it goes into affect. Does anyone know if this means each pack you start? or does it mean when you begin taking the pill for the first time. I had my period last week and then had sex with my boyfriend yesterday, and it was only my 2nd day on my new pac? Im just wondering if i was still protected?

Oh yes, just your very first time using birth control pills, not every time you start a new pack.  We'd all be getting pregnant if that was the case.  HTH

I agree, as long as its not your first pack and you are taking the BCPs correctly you are fine.

Generally doctors recommend you use other protection for your first full month of pills (usually the birth control pamphlets say less than that as your does).  After that, provided you take your pills as directed, they should remain effective until you stop taking them, or miss a couple of pills.  IF this is not your first pack, and you are on your second or more, then you should be fine.

Take care,

Amanda
