blood test is negative but I still think I'm pregnant!

I am 27 years old and trying to have a baby. My periods are always regular, never late! but this month I missed my period so I went to the doctor to have a blood test done 3 days after I was suppose to get my priod. Unfortunately it was negative. But I believe I'm pregnant.
Even though the blood test was negative could I still be pregnant? can the test be false? has this happened to anyone?

I'm sorry  to say that you are probably not pregnant.  The blood tests are able to detect a minimal amount of hcg in the blood.  If you do not get your period in a week, you may want to go back for a repeat test.  Many things do delay periods though.  Like the stress of really wanting to be pregnant.

I do understand how it is to really want a baby.  I hope you are able to conceive soon.

If your blood work came back neg, then you are definately not pregnant. It is medically confirmed that some women want to get pregnant so badly, can get some symptoms of a pregnant woman and actually not be. I am not saying that you are that case. I am giving out info. Not starting your period can also be alot of factors. Stress, tiredness, excercising to much or other physical problems. If you do not start, then I would suggest seeing a Dr again. Many baby dust to you though.

I was going to say that exact same thing.  I have heard that also.  If a person wants to be pg bad enough they can make themselves feel that they are.  I am sorry you are feeling this way and that the test came back negative but I agree with the other two posts that chances are you probably are NOT pg right now.  Hang in there.  It'll happen for you.  Good Luck.

It is not uncommon for a woman to skip a period from time to time since hormones aren't an exact science.  Good luck next month!

I disagree. On pregnant info-net. Two women had blood tests and still tested negative only to find out through birth and ultrasound that they actually were. So if your period does not come the next month get checked for other things as well as pregnancy. There is no such thing as phantom pregnancy believe me.

I know it isn't something you wish to believe at this point and believe me I HOPE you are pregnant since that is obviously what you are wanting, but there most certainly is a such thing as a phantom pregnancy.

Thanks Everyone for your comments. I have made an appointment to go and see my doctor(obgyn)in January. She wants me to wait till then and then go see her. Thanks again all!

Since I'm not sure if I'm pregnant or not. But I've been having sharp pain in my pelvic area that last for 2 sec. Also I have noticed that for past 2 days i have discharge but today It seems like alot more ,Its egg white like, No odour. I have not had any discharge for about 12 days from when I was suppose to have my period .
Is this normal?

What you are describing sounds exactly like ovulation.  The clear mucus, like egg-whites, is probably your EWCM (your most fertile mucus).  I cannot explain why you missed your period though and why this would be ovulation if you didn't get a period.  Have you tried calling another doctor??  If that is an option then I'd call another doc and see if they'll get you in before January!

Hi im going through the same thing I had what looked like implantation bleeding and cramping a week after conception im tired and getting indigestion,sickness urinating heaps, im 2 weeks late for period which has never happened,
i had negative blood test but still think im pregnant,I was told to go back in a week to get another blood test.

Hi i know what u mean. I am going through the same thing i have 3 kids and i have all the same pregnancy symtoms and i have a IUD in had a blood test and came back negative the doc said that it could back with false results if u had just concived cause ur HCG level wasn't high enough to detect the blood. THE blood test is just good as those pg test U CAN GET A NEGATIVE BLOOD TEST

would just like to say that my friend took about ten pregnancy tests after having no period and they all came back negative. she took one more which gave a positive result so made an appointment at the doctors for a blood test. but the bloods came back negative. even though she was infact 9weeks pregnant. so they can be wrong and if you have a gut feeling that you are then stick with it. nobody knows your body better than yourself and good luck to you

just to clarify, your friend didnt test positive on a preg test or a blood test ubtil she was 9 weeks? when and how did she confirm she was? a blood test or a u/s? i'm 9/10 weeks since my last period with all neg preg tests. thanks!

I had my tubes tied in 1997 and then I had my appendix taken out and one month later, I feel that I am now pregnant.  I took a test and was nagative.  I have been reading that after so long of having your tubes tied, that they get pregnant.  My periods are always on time.  I am two weeks late.  does anyone have any ideas.

get a blood test that will tell you for sure. some women have gotten pregnant even though their tubes were tied so yes it is possible

          I guess a lot of us have something in common.  I'm 2 weeks late for the first and only time in my life.  I have always been regular and have never had problems with irregular cycles.  I have taken 4 tests now and I'm growing weary of the negative results.  I don't want to go into the doctor in fear that I'll just get another negative test result.  It's hard because we are so excited but everytime we see the one line dash our hopes are dashed.  This whole waiting period is tough on a woman.  I'm not completely positive that I'm pregnant but there is still this glimmer of hope or feeling that I might be.  What to do?

I would go and get a blood test at the doc.  If you are pregnant you want to start prenatal care right away, and if you are not, you can put your mind at ease.

im 5 weeks late and have done several urine tests, which have come out negative, i had a blood test on monday and come back negative :( i still feel i am pregnant as i have 3 children already , my fella and i really want another baby and all this waiting is horrilble wish there was a way to just tell us .

i only had my period between 2-3 weeks ago normal for about 5-6 days. and 2 weeks later(now) for the last 3 days i have experienced bleeding and stomach cramps and a few headaches only for 3 days i dont have any idea what it is maybe pregnancy but it doesnt feel like. what else could it be? when is the best time for me to either go and have a blood test or take a pregnancy test?
