bloody mucus vaginal discharge

I am in the throes of menopause.  In the last two months I have experienced spotting that includes mucusy discharge and blood and clots (I use a tampon but it doesn't absorb the discharge but instead collects it-on one side interestingly; it isn't a flow at all).  I may experience this and later on in the month a very heavy flow, but who knows what my body is going to do lately?  Any feeback?
