brown discharge

I'm 18 years old and i am a virgin and i have just recently within the past couple of days had this brown vaginal discharge. I've never had it before. It has been about 3 weeks since the first day of my last period. I should start in about another week. The discharge is not tons, but enough that i have to wear a panty liner. It's dark and i can feel it when it comes out. It does smell more than it should i think. It is a little clumpy. I have no idea what to do or what it is. I don't use tampons, i don't know if that would have anything to do with it. I've searched online and cannot figure out what it could be, because any information on brown discharge never says anything about a bad smell. I can't really explain the smell but i'm pretty sure it's not normal. I don't feel comfortable talking to my mom or sister or anyone about it, so maybe some of you have some answers for me. I would appreciate it so much. I've never had any problems so this really scares me. Should i be worried?

Hi im 16 and yes i also have this.. mine doesnt smell however. Brown discharge can be a sign of a serious disease or it can just be old period fluid that did not  leave during your last pwriod. If it continues after you have had your petiod then id suggest seeing a doctor and it could be a simple problem of toouch iron in ur system or an underlying infection
