There's a lot of different factors that go into that value. If the baby was term, how it's eating, genetic dispositions, how tall (or long) they are.  An average baby at this age is usually around 13-18 lbs. The main concern is charted by the dr's is thriving-meaning that they are continually growing and gaining at an even rate. Has the dr mentioned any problems with the weight? I'm thinking around 8 months, they should have doubled their birth weight.
