chronic worsening abdo pain

Hello, I'm new here so bear with me.
I have been having this vague pain in my right groin/pelvic region for the past two years, which has recently worsened. It started out Dec 2005 as a mild ache that I could ignore mostly unless I concentrated. Recently it has become worse, with some shooting pains up into my abdomen, across the pelvic floor to the left side and even down my right leg/groin area. The pain is worse if my bladder is full or if I am constipated or have gas, but does not go away when those issues are resolved. The pain is also worse when I'm lying down, especially if lying on my back, so bad that I have to get up out of bed. I am now experiencing a kind of pulling or 'scratchy' feeling when I'm walking which is really annoying. I can get temporary relief if I lay in a hot bath but only while I'm in there. I have experienced significant weight gain and my abdomen is now protruding like I'm 5 months pregnant (obviously not pregnant). I have excess facial hair on my chin and excess hair on my abdomen, right side only. Ibuprofen 800mg no longer works, nor does naprosyn. My periods are regular and about 28 days, bleeding is moderate to heavy for two days and then done. I occasionally have copious mucousy discharge but usually yellow-brown kinda odd smelling discharge.

My history includes a long standing problem with an atypical, fluid-filled cyst that was growing on my left fallopian tube between the ovary and uterus. It was unclear as to the origin of the cyst but I was told it was not likely an ovarian cyst. This was finally diagnosed in 2003 after 16 years of problems such as extreme menstrual pain, sometimes even with nausea, vomiting, rigors and loss of consciousness. I had huge water weight gain every months (which went away and has now returned) so bad that I would develop stretch marks each month. Like up to 15 lbs of fluid. I had ultrasound after ultrasound over the years and none found anything. The final dx was made by CT scan. Later the US for size/placement was difficult because it looked like part of my bladder. The cyst grew from 4x5cm to 6x9cm over a period of 3 months. I was on bcp Marvelon 21 at the time of the dx. I had a lap drainage and excision and lysis of adhesions of the left ovary to the bowel August 2003. NB there was a 1cm fibriod on my uterus which was left alone.

Diagnosics:
I have switched doctors as I have moved to another town 3 years ago. I have been in for an US of the right ovary- negative. Also had a Barium enema (what fun :( ) which was also negative. The plan is now to do bloodwork as I wish to become pregnant and have been unsuccessful after trying for 8 months. I am 34 and want to get on with it! I can't stand this pain anymore and now am constantly contemplating just walking into ER and demanding another CT. I don't understand why my MD has not done this!?! Any ideas on what's wrong with me? Please help, I can't stand this pain anymore and I'm frustrated as it's been another two years out of my life and I feel like I'm at step one here.

Sounds like they are checking thyroid, and other hormones that your body is suppose to make. That is good that they are doing that. Good luck

Thanks for your comments. I am now heading out for some blood tests: CBC, TSH, ferritin, d3FSH, d21 progesterone, estradiol, prolactin. Does anyone have any ideas what these tests are getting at and how this might help with my pain?

I am so sorry your going through all of this. Life shouldn't be like this for you.

Is your new doctor going to do blood work?? I just had a ton of blood drawn because of my weird symptoms, I am not having any pain. But what I am getting at is that I have some of your symptoms ( not as extreme) and my doctor thinks one of my glands isn't working properly? My thyroid is enlarged but my tests came back fine for that. I am getting an u/s to see why its large. But has any doctor mentioned glands to you? thyroid, pituitary,, ovaries, etc?? Apparently when one of those is out of whack, your body will produce more of one hormone to make up for what the other one isn't doing.

I hope that you can find a good doctor that will do whatever it takes to find out whats going on with you so you can get on with your life and have a baby! I am sorry I don't have anymore info for you.
