I haven't had this done personally, but there is a woman that I work with that had this done, both of them at the same time...well, what I mean is at the same scheduled appointment.  She said that she was mildly sedated and doesn't recall anything.  She said she was a little sore afterwards...top and bottom, but that it wasn't as bad as she had anticipated.  Sorry, I don't have any personal words of wisdom to give you.

Hi Boosty, I am so sorry that they have to go and have tubes poked everywhere. I haven't been through it, but my Mom has to go every 6 months for the past 4 years due to a disorder similar to chrohn's disease. She said that the worse part is taking the prep. Sometimes she vomits and has to start all over. yuck. They start in iv when she's there and give her a twilight sleep.Probably valium. She said that she has even dozed off during the procedure. They have to take biopsies on her and she doesn't feel it either. They do put air in to view the intestines as they insert the tube, but they suck it out-sorry tried to think of another word but that one stuck.Once she can pee she goes home and watches for bleeding or severe cramping-but this has never happened.

As for the test with the nasogastric tube, she had that too during a week long stay in the hospital after bowel resection surgery.  It was put in during surgery but came out and had to be replaced. Yours will be in through your mouth or could be nose. Tip your head to your chest. They aspirate a small amount of gastric content to test. If positive, they give you a high dose antibiotic which is probably why they want to get it done before ttc. Also, to find out where the bleeding was from.  Best wishes to you and sorry if tmi. Take care.

I don't know much about a colonoscopy..But I have heard that it seems alot
worse than it really is.
It sounds horrible and I am sure not too pleasant but I have heard from ppl that it wasn't as bad
as they thought it would be.
I too would be paranoid...but it is much better you go through it then not.
I'm not sure if it is safe to have these procedures while pregnant...
But I can say...I have most def put ttc on the far back burner for now....after being poked at and operated on.
I can't imagine feeling this crumby and being prego.
I wish you all the best...It's best to look into these things sooner than later.
And if it isn't safe to get while pregnant...maybe it's best to deal with this first.
Good Luck!
