desquamative inflammatory vainitis

I was diagnose with DIV after suffering with it for two months and being tested for every STD and finially swiching doctors. My new doctor knew what it was and perscribed clindamycin to treat the DIV. It took two doses of this to clear it up. since I first got it in January of 2009 I have had it return four times and successfully treated it each time. One thing I have noticed is when I eat lean meats lots of veggies and almost no sugar in regular small portions daily and exersice on a regular basis I don't get it but once I quit working out and eating right it come right back every three to six months or sometimes sooner. I have to ask my self would I rather take the time to exersice and eat right or suffer with DIV. Needless to say to anyone who has had DIV taking a hour out of the day to exersice is nothing compared with the week or more you suffer with DIV.
If anyone else has had success at keeping it from coming back let me know how.

I was diagnosed with DIV and have to be very careful with my diet as well. No bread, pasta, potatoes or sweets. I can have a cheat day once a week and be ok as long as I don't overdue it. I find that neosporin triple antibiotc ointment is amazing at clearing up  the external irritation and burning. I also use a product containing lactic acid called balance active to keep my vaginal ph low and it has been a Godsend. I just discovered another product with lactic acid called isofresh vaginal gel that I am about to try since it does'nt leak out like the balance active does and does'nt have to be shipped from the UK. It also keeps the vaginal ph low and does not contain glcerin or other irritaing ingedients an dhas awesome reviews on amazon.com. I have been able to keep my DIV under control with diet and the use of these products and even have a normal sex life with my husand again which is great. I wish you all the best!

I recently have been diagnosed with inflammatory vaginitis. I have had this ongoing problem for seven years now. Is there a cure for this? Im taking an estrogen compound for a year, and was on 2 other medicines one for yeast, and the other for bacteria. It seems to get better for awhile then it comes back. Anyone else have this problem

I've had several tests including an excruciating uterine biopsy because my doctor was trying to find the cause of my yellow discharge.  After researching I believe I too have inflammatory vaginitis.  I'm going to call him in the morning and hopefully he will be able to help me.  Good luck ladies.  Fergie

Replens or plain yogurt give me a natural but temporary relief.  You mentioned the symptoms go away when you don't eat a lot of sugar.  I wonder if that goes for low carbs too since the carbs turn into sugar in the body? Diabetes runs in my family, but I haven't developed it yet. I'm a carb addict though and you might have hit onto something.

Here's my story. See any similarities?

I'll be 52 in August. I'm fit and a healthnut. I have a yellow, frothy, pus-like discharge that itches and my vagina is inflamed. When my gyn inserts a speculum I want to grab his gonads!  Last May my gyn put me on estrogen/progesterone cream to help with night sweats and a yellow discharge I had developed. I apply the cream to my thigh nightly. When he tested the PH of the discharge he said it was off the chart for being alkaline.  The hormone cream works great for the night sweats and somewhat for the yellow discharge.  It worked well enough on the discharge that I didn't think about it.  Two months ago I took oral antibiotics (amoxicillin) after dental surgery.  The first day I took the antibiotics the yellow discharge came back in full force and I'm still dealing with it. Applying a little plain non-fat greek yogurt in the vagina is very soothing. It gets rid of the burning and itching for a day or two but then you have to reapply it.  Replens also helps.  Replens produces a soft-tofu like discharge that the instruction sheet says are the cells my vagina is shedding. (One or two people in this discussion mentioned tests showing lots of vaginal cells in their discharge)  I've had a vaginal discharge it seems my whole life but it was always creamy, like body lotion.  My gynies always said that the creamy discharge was "normal" but other women say their discharge is crystal clear. I've had a pap smear done every year. All "normal".  I've had ovarian cysts removed from both ovaries.  One ovary was removed because the cyst was large and diagnosed as "pre-cancerous".  I've had fibroids removed but I still have my uterus. I've never been pregnant.  For the past several years my yearly blood work has shown that I have a low white blood count.  But the doctors could never say what that meant of what is causign that. (Someone else mentioned in this discussion that they have a low WBC).  I take a Diovan/HTCZ  combo for high blood pressure. I eat a lot of fruits and vegetables. My lunch is usually a large salad with lots of different vegetables. I drink soymilk daily.
