do prenatal vitamins megadose

i am ttc i chose a prenatal vitamin at a local drugstore but it seems that the dosages are extremely high are they safe to take also can i drink fruit\vegetable juice fortified with vit A and vit C it seems they are megadoses

they have to be high to supply enough vitamins for 2 bodies

Just don't take more than one a day unless your doc advises you to. :)

The key is to keep the amount of A in a prenatal vitamin well under 100% of the RDA. I think mine has a lower %, closer to 40%. I would watch too much vitamin A in anything fortified with it. High doses over a period of time have been linked to bone deformities in pregnancy. Google "Vitamin A in pregnancy" and you should find the current recommendations.
