do you think my girl could be pregnant? I need some answers.

by jakesnake, Jul 23, 2006 12:00AM
Okay.  So my girl hasnt had her period in about 20 something days.  I came in her 3 days before her period was supposed to come and several times after.  Her nipples are lactating .  We went to the OBGYN who tested her and it came back negative.  The blood results were negative.  However, due to the time frame of these occurances, the doctor said it was still a possibilty that she was pregnant.  She advised us to take another ept in a week or so if her period did not come.  It didnt and we did this morning.  The first one was a positive and the second a negative.  Two ept's were taken before the doctor visit were also negative but were taken too early to really tell anyway.  I just want to know what the heck is going on and if she is or not.  Could this be a false positive?  Is there such a thing as a false negative?  Im confused.

if it's been over a week since the dr appt, have her schedule another one. Most dr's offices can do the blood test without her having to see the dr. Better to be safe. This way you both will know and can stop stressing. Because stress can mess a females cycle up terribly. If the 2 of you aren't ready for a child it might be wise to use protection all the time. Best of luck to you both.

I agree with needshelp; if she got a positive on one home test, go to the doc and have another blood test run.  The one that was negative sounds like it was definitely too early for even a blood test, but now there is a better chance of getting a correct result.

It is rare to get a false positive and quite easy to get a false negative if u test at the wrong time, do the test wrong etc. I think its more than likely she is pregnant cos the first was pos, if u took the 2nd one the same day maybe the HCG levels (what the baby produces and the HPT detects) were low because she had drank so the concentratoin was less. Either way like above said ul need to go bk to the dr to confirm it. The blood test will definately show a change (or not if by the slimist chance the pos was false)

I hope u get the result ur lookin for

I just got a false positive a week ago so I do not think it is as uncommon as people say that it is. It takes more than 20 days to get your period also blood tests would show up before the urine test. If it was 20 days and she got a blood test I think you are fine. While she was at the doc I hope you asked to get her on the pill if you don't want any babies. Make sure she takes it and watch her do it. It is your life too.
