Hello,

I recently got a faint but noticable positive ept hpt. I went to the doctors today and they did an ultradsound to see if there was a baby. She said no and that my uterus lining was thick but saw a black tiny circle in the lining of my uterus and wasnt sure if it was a baby. i could be earlier then i thought. she did a urine test and it was negative. now we are waiting on beta blood test.

I spoke with ept company and they said that they will be surprised if it comes back negative. my positive showed up within 1 minute.

Can the doctors office urine test not be as sensitive as an hpt?

my 1st preg showed hgc at 5weeks, 2nd preg not till 13weeks, this one is kicking around my bellybutton and still negative urine tests!! so yes it does happen, and is happening to me right now!
and im so glad to find others who experience the same because its sending me crazy arguing with midwives at hospitals and doctors to get them to do the blood check and sonogram since the urine test is negative, and they get annoyed and treat me like im a nutter!! saying it is impossible to be pregnant and get a negative test!! well funny how a baby appears a few months later!! i want to become an ob or midwife now, at least i wont try to bully other women away when they are really pregnant, i would do all the checks first.

Treat yourself as a pregnant woman. Do everything you would do if the dr's test was positive. Start taking prenatal vitamins, folic acid and stop drinking. Trust the HPT.....and your body! You know better thatn anyone else how you fell and you are NOT CRAZY!
Go back to the Dr's office in a week and test again, when it comes back pos. (which it will) get the blood test to be sure. Good luck!

Hi everyone, I wanted to post this because I am looking for some advice. I was late so I took a HPT( EPT) on my lunch hour. The positive result was faint so I deceided to take the other test the next morning. That one came back very quickly and clearly positive. I was very excited and told my fiance right away, I already have a 4 1/2 yo daughter from my first marriage but this would be my fiances first child. Any way we were very excited so over the course of the weekend we went to vaious stores and bought various types of tests just so we could see the positive result again and again. Monday I scheduled to have a urine test to confirm the pregnancy and so I could start scheduling my OB appointments. I took the urine test over my lunch hour and anxiously awaited the results. The nurse called me back and told me that the results were negative and she asked me how long I was waiting to read the results and if I has maybe goofed the test up some how, she said if I felt it was neccessary to retest they would schedule another urine test next week. I was crushed! On my way home that night I bought one of those digital read out tests that are supposedly goof proof so I got home rushed to the bathroom (I am having symptoms like nausous, lots of bathroom breaks,super duper tired) and took the test again the results were quick and positive! I am wondering am I crazy?? Is it possible to have gotten 6 false positive HPTs? They will not give blood confirm unless they are forced at gunpoint so what is a gal to do? I am either crazy and have convienced myself that I am preg or I am really preg and the doctor's test was (gasp) wrong! Oh no!I guess I will retest at the doctor's next week! What do you all think?

it was a most definite positive line you could see in any light dark or light. it appeared in one minute. i almost feel like i lost a child because i was so excited. :-( they are sending me a check for the test. i was wating for the doc to call and say there was a mistake but oh well. i can now enjoy my 7 month old without another child for a while.

we were not trying to get pregnant but it always exciting to think that you could possibly be pregnant. you know what i mean? it will be fun to be able to try in thr future. my son was unexpected but we are happy! i am looking forwarfd to the ttc process. it must be so exciting to k now you are trying!!!

EPT was reliable for me.  Call the company back and see if they will reimburse you.   Did you see an obvious line or did you have to hold it and look at it very carefully?

thank you sooooo much for the input. my sister recently took the the ept and is pregnant and i asked her how her positive appeared and it was exactly the same. it faded in from the left edge of the positive test strip. so we will see. the results are usually in by now on the net but it is not there. i will let you know.

Ok well EPT hpt is not reliable. I got a positive wihin a minute and I went to the doctors for a beta blood test and it was less then 2. So dont buy EPT.

I agree, call ept... so they can keep track of their "bad" tests and they will also send you a coupon for a new test to use later

well i did a blood beta test and i get the results tomorrow morning. but i am obviously not as far as i thought i would be. my period was 6 weeks ago but the sonogram didnt show 6 weeks. like i said it showed nothing yet. just that the lining was thick and it looked like a period was coming but it there was a black circle in the lining of the uterus ??? so if the hpt is ocrrect i am not as far as i thought i am. my body has been funky lately so who knows if i ovulated twice or late. I am just so confused that the hpt would turn positive in 1 minute but not be pregnant? ept was shocked and told me call them if it is a negative blood test.


i want to believe the hpt.

the drs test should be more sensitive than the hpt, but then again false positives with hpt are v. rare, false negs are not.  You could have your doc order a blood hcg which can be more accurate.  How far along woould you be?
