fibroids and sciatic pain link

Hi
Had sciatic pain for over 18 months running from lower back into hip and down right leg
doctor referred me for physio after six months physio decided it was doing no good i had to agree
if anything aggreviating it.Been on painkillers , however i found it worse when a period was due so had an investigation by doc he found a large fibroid on my right side of my uterus . Waiting to see gyny but doc says more than likely a hysterectomy will be required ,i just want the pain in my lower back and leg to go away as this has taken over my quality of life at the moment does anyone think the two are related back pain and fibroid?I am 43 yrs old
