folic acid

I have ITP, with low platelets (currently 89,000), and my doctor has prescribed 400 micrograms of folic acid.  However, my multi vitamin already has the same amount of folic acid that he prescribed.  Would just taking my multi vitamin suffice?

I had laparatomy in September and was told to take ferrimed for iron as I lost lot of blood during op. Now ttc, is it safe to add prenatals as well for the folic?

Does he know you were taking a multi vitamin with it in? Either case, he perscribed it cuz you are low so obviously what youre taking isnt enough.
