freckle patches

by Mrs.B, Jan 04, 2007 12:00AM
Does anyone know what would cause patches of freckles (like 100 little freckles real close together) to just show up on trunk of body. I have a patch about 2x2 on my side and a few more that are smaller on my back. The do not hurt, the are not raised, you cant feel them. They are just kinda weird. People think it birthmarks, but they have only appeared in the last few years. Im 26 years old. I dont take any kind of hormone including birth control and I hardly ever see the sun or tanning bed. I ask my gyno today when I saw her if she new, but she had no idea. She said I should find out incase it is something manifesting. Any one else?

I have lots of little freckles...but I've always had them.  I wouldn't be too worried if you haven't been praying to the tanning bed gods!  Maybe your hormones are changing as you get older and causing this?  I've heard that peoples hair can change consistency as they age too...anyway maybe go to a dermatologist...let me know how it goes...

Have you been sunburned where the freckles are? That is what caused the majority of my freckles.

I have them too.  If you go to see a dermatologist they can tell you what they are actually called....I have forgotten their name.  My arrived in mid twenties and have continued through my thirties.  I have one your size on my hip and a couple on my back too. None are as big as my big one.  If I remember correctly, they are some type of harmless birth mark that arrives later in life....but please don't take my word for it.  What I do remember is they are harmless and will be with us for life.  Best of luck and I hope this helps in some small way.
