got a cold but might be pregnant

by gmd, Jul 18, 2006 12:00AM
Just wondering if anyone has had a cold or sore throat during pregnancy and what can you take?  I had a IUI last week so I am waiting for the results-won't be until next week.  But I don't want to take anything if I'm pregnant. Any do's or don'ts would help.  Thanks.

Always ask your doc for advice on what to take when you are expecting or on the 2ww.  You can use tea with lemon, hard candies for simple relief though.  Get well.

I never had any indications that I became pregnant, I never got sick except for crampings and missed my period... I am 6 weeks and not nauseated yet... I wonder when it happens.

I've heard fresh lemon juice is good for when you have a cold or sore throat.

I had a very bad cold at the beginning of this pregnancy. I was told it was ok to use halls, I bought the walmart brand ones, cheaper and taste better. You can also try using a humidifier (cool mist). You can also use vicks vapor rub. I would rub it on my neck and chest to help with the sore throat and cough.

You may want to ask your dr or pharmacist what would be safe to use, if any of the above things don't bring you some relief.

Take Care

Here is a copy of a post from the Maternal/Child forum yesterday. Harley-girl posted a list of meds that are okay to take during pregnancy according to the AMA.

I know a lot of us have questioned what meds are allowed. I was give this by my ob-gyn and it was approved by the AMA. Hope it helps those with qestions.

Tavist
