headaches from reading

by torque, Feb 03, 2007 12:00AM
So I am in college full time, and have been reading A LOT lately. The past few days, after reading for a few hours during the day, I have been getting headaches at night when I am starting to wind down. I was wondering if anyone has had similar problems from reading too much. Any tips or advice would be appreciated. Thank you!!

im in college, taking english online too, so i have to read a WHOLE LOT of little print, i get headaches too, i have to limit my reading to a hour or my head kills me all day, i think i need glasses though, can you get an eye exam?

Well,I do wear contacts, but I havent been to my eye doctor in about two years now. I am probably due. You said you have to stop after an hour? Maybe if I just start taking long breaks it will help? I am in 5 online classes right now, and think I am going to lose my mind!! All of the courses require a ton of reading!!!

5 online classes? wow your a trooper this one class is kickin my butt! ive been having headaches from reading about the last 6 months, and i noticed that if i take little breaks, even 10-15 mins it helps, and also ive heard that when reading the screen its good to look away every 30 seconds or so for 5 seconds,(i know it sounds weird) but it gives your eyes a rest, do you ever have trouble driving at night? ive also noticed  since this has been happining i cant see as well at night, keep me posted if this helps!

It doesnt sound weird, I will try ad look away a lot more to rest my eyes. As for night blindness,I have always had that. I try very hard not to drive at night if at all possible. thanks again for your tips. I am glad Im not alone!

yeah agreed, you should go get an eye test ...thats what was happening to me in grade 12, i was reading alot and doing alot of essays and on the computer alot. now i have glasses and i get the head ache occasioanlly but so much better then i was. Go to the optometrists and get an eye exam. 2 years on for me and the glasses as much as  ihated them they most likely saved me from alot of damage later in life and THEY LOOK HOT :) lol
