I would like to know when was your last period and r there any chances of u being pregnant as threatened abortion often presents like this. All sexually active women should go for pap smears every 3 years, or earlier if anything wrong, this help them  provide early treatment for any lower genital problem thus ultimately protecting them from cervical cancer. So don't be scared but you should consult a gynaecologist for diagnosis & treatment

sometimes that can happen before or after your period as the lining sheds, the blood is darker because of its location in the uterus.  I'm guessing you do not see a OBGYN because if you did they would already have had you getting a yearly pap smear. Its a strange feeling but it will help if you are able to relax. Pap smears as well as regular exams from a OB are just as important as getting a check up to make sure your staying healthy. A Pap smear is a a quick test that helps make sure your vagina is healthy.  Hope this helped answer your question.
