herpes when pregant?

is it possible for me to just break out with gential herpes now when i am 12 weeKS pregant?my hubby had them since 2004 we diidn't know until last fall 2005 when the doctor took a swab from my hubby's blister.i had a few spots on my public hair area.they itch like crazy but they didn't get blister like my hubbys.do u think it is herpesv2 or something to do with preganancy?i am nervous because if i have the virus too i may need a c-section this time.that would really suck.i was told herpes can't be tested unless u have blister to take pus from.i am from canada so it may be diffenert for people from other countrys.

I think they can do a blood test to test for herpes.. I would def have it done if you think you may have them.  Then ask the doctor more questions that you may have.

Also, if you have it or suspect you do, they can put you on Valtrex the last trimester to try to suppress any outbreaks and you can deliver vaginally still if the doctor thinks it is ok.

Does your hubby have type 1 or type 2?

type 2 he has.can't do blood test for it here in canada.i had myself all checke dout last fall and the dr says no blood test for the herpes.

There are blood tests for herpes (I believe it's called Herpes Select).  Even in Canada.  Check out the STD forum on this site.  Apparently the GUM clinics in the UK and Canada are pretty fantastic.  If your dr. won't test, check one of those out.  As far as herpes while pregnant.  From what I understand, as long as you aren't having a breakout during delivery, there should not be a problem.  They may opt for a c-section if you are broken out.

I have herpes type 2. I also live in canada, when I first found out that I had type 2 herpes, they sent me for a blood test. Now, the blood work won't tell you if you have herpes, but it will tell you if you have the antibodies for the herpes. Having the antibodies in your blood is a good indicator that you have been exposed to the herpes virus.

i never had nothing show up in my blood showing any thing for herpes.dr said i am probbaly immune to it but sometimes i wonder blood work doesn't get mixed up.ifihad herpes i would be all red inside
