high hcg level

I recently had a miscarriage on October 17.  Since then I have had blood tests every week to ten days to monitor my hcg levels.  On November 17 my hcg level had dropped to 7.  I repeated the test on November 28 and my level was over 6000.  I know an increase would mean that i am pregnant again, but isn't 6000 extremely high?  What could such a high number mean?  I have an ultrasound in a week, but am going crazy thinking about it until than.

Hello, it turns out there must have been a lab error in a prior test.  an ultrasound confirmed that i am pregnant with twins.  so far it seems everything is ok

Lab error is not unheard of in this forum...several posters have had it happen.  The other possibility is a molar pregnancy, but those numbers don't fit the profile.

all of the units of measurements were the same.  i am having another blood test tomorrow to rule out lab error.  maybe i have worried myself for nothing.

Wow, that is a very sudden increase.  From 7 to 6000 in just 11 days?  I don't know what that means, but it seems like a lab error or something.  Were the units the same on both measurements?  mIU's?
