Does your pain radiate anywhere else, like down your leg?  It kind of sounds like an impinged nerve, but I don't have enough information to go on.  Is it better when you are off of your feet?  If you do not have any relief by morning, you should make an appointment with your physician.

It does sound like a pinched nerve.  Your doc will need to examine you and order xrays/mri...whatever he/she determines.  He/she may need to give you prescription pain meds as well.  Usually, OTC medicines don't help very much with nerve pain.  You might want to google: sciatica

There are some helpful exercises that you can do.  Of course, right now that's the last thing on your mind, but I am sure if that is what you have, your doc will prescribe some sort of physical therapy as well.
