I read somewhere that caffeine is a big no-no for hot flashes. Here in Oz we call them hot flushes, I was taken off my meds by my Doc, who said I was on them too long, after I cut right back on my coffee drinking (I was only having 1 or 2 per day, and not very strong) I found that the flushes were easing. Try chamomile tea, I'm not too happy with the taste, but it's not horrible, just different! And no caffeine. 98% of what I drink is water, (boiled for 10 mins & kept in the fridge), Otherwise your hormones could be out of balance, Try Women to Women's Personal Programme for hormonal help, link here:-

If you're in the US they are great, give good advice, I'm in Oz, they don't mail their stuff to Oz, otherwise I might be better than I am!..
Another thing you can try, as soon as the hot flush starts, do deep 'belly breathing'. Put your hand on your belly and breathe in feeling your hand move out, then exhale, letting your belly go flat, do this for about 6 breaths, and this should lessen the severity of it. I also keep a glass of cold water on my night table, and as soon as I feel one coming on, I take a deep drink, then do the breathing.
I hope this helps a bit, but I'd be going back to the doc that did the Op, and getting advice from him/her.

ive been having them for a month now. normally i get them if i run out of the meds that im on but this time its different because i havent ran out of my meds and im getti8ng the hot and cold flashes. normally the pattern is i get cold flashes all day long i turn my heater up to 78 degrees and im still cold. than at night when i go to bed its like every hour im having hot flashes than like 30 min utes later it turns to cold flashes. ive heard that taking a luke warm bath for 30 minutes is suppose to eliminate the flashes all together but im not allowed to take a bath due to i just had lapriscopic surgery and another surgery all in one done about a month ago and i so i have incisions on my stomach and they sid that taking a bath could cause an infection. so im trying to figure out what else i can do to get rid of the flashes all together because now its more to a point than ever that its annoying and i just want to get rid of them.

Do you have any idea what is causing them? How long have you been having them? Is there a pattern you can see?
