Honey..the vagina lips cover all womens vagina these are called labia major, the advice others gave is good, the insertion of the speculm is uncomfortable,,but only for a few seconds they are quite quick about it.

if you are a virgin they may not do a speculum just a digit ( finger) exam so as to preserve the hymen.

The hardest thing to do is be relaxed when they insert the speculum instrument. If your a virgin it will be a little more uncomfortable than if your not. You mainly just feel some pressure, the whole exam last maybe 5 minutes tops. After it's over you'll wonder why you were so stressed out.

It's uncomfortable but not scary. The doc won't care what your vagina looks like as long as you take care of yourself (washing down there). Like the previous poster said s/he will check your breasts for lumps or other oddities, ask you a lot of questions and use a speculum  (sp?) which is just a tool to help open up the vagina so the doc can see your cervix. They'll do a pelvic exam (they insert their fingers and push on your belly) and do a pap smear. Which is when they use a long q-tip to scrap the cervix which they send to a lab to test for abnormalities (HPV, cervical cancer and the sorts.)

dont worry the dr will check for lumps in ur breasts and then do a pelvic exam. they will look to make sure everything is in the right place and will use a "duck" to open u up then the dr will use long q tips to take samples it doese not hurt it can b scary at first and embarasing but remember that the dr has done this a gazillion times if u r still worried u can get a hand held mirror and examin urself first and know that just like the rest of ur body every1 is diffrent
