how long til an ovarian cyst will rupture?

I believe I have an ovarian cyst, it has hurt for 6 days now. It started about the same time I should have ovulated. At what point in the cycle do these usually rupture? I have an ultrasound on tuesday.

I had them about once a year for many years.  Mine would leave with the next period, usually.  I used to massage them in hopes of encouraging them to burst (at least, the ones that weren't so painful that I was reduced to walking around the house with a hot-water bottle stuffed in the front of my pants).  My sister once had one that took about three or four months.  The doc put her on the Pill and it slowly shrunk.

I've had several ovarian cysts and mine never burst. The first one I had it almost 8 months to diagnose and it didn't burst. Of course, it depends on how big it is and what kind it is.
