I had my IUD removed after having 2 over a 10 year period.  I have an 11 yr old from my previous relationship and am desparate to have a baby with my current partner but at 35 I feel that time is kind of running out!
I didn't had a period for the whole time I had an IUD and am now petrified that my body won't return to normal.
I had it removed a week ago and had 2 days of very light bleeding 4 days later.  I have no idea where I am in my cycle, don't know if it was a period or just spotting and I'm getting really stressed out about it.
After searching around looking for something which would put my mind at rest, I'm going to try a basal thermometer to try to track whether and hopefully when ovulation is taking place.  They are around £15 and as I know the doctors won't test my hormone levels until about a year has passed, it seems like the best option I have.

Good luck to all of you ttc. x

well let me join the boat....although every woman, even every pregnancy is different, it is somewhat comforting to know you're not insane and there are others in the same boat.
I had my Mirena IUD removed 1/24-i had it for 3 years with no periods, bled for about 5 days lightly.  Had my first period on 2/17, bleeding heavy and crampy lasting 6 days. before my last pregnancy i was 28 day cycle like clockwork. my dr said fertility will return within 6 weeks.  on day 32 i started another "period", this one is very light, no clots, and minimal cramps if any. this is day 4 and it is tapering off.  for the last two weeks i have had pregnacy symptoms like dizziness, headaches, backaches, slight pelvic cramping, severe bloating (looking 4 mos pregnant!), darker nipples, tenderness and montgomery tubercules around nipples,  but tests still show negative.  I was curious if what i have now could be implantation bleeding, which can go into 5/6 weeks pregnant if ovulated late.
I do know that with my first two kids i did not get a BFP until i was 4 weeks past conception not LMP. Does anyone have anything similar to this to comment on experience?
Going crazy here, i want to have my 3rd/last child before my other two are much older....

Also, does anyone else with the IUD have severe cramps/pains after you have sex?  I have this problem & I was wondering how common it is.

Hi, I had the Paraguard inserted in Sept 2010.  I want to have it removed because of the side effects.  I have severe cramping (bad enough to where I can't stand up and it feels almost as bad as kidney stone pain) & I spot pretty much all the time.  I am not TTC, so I was wondering if anyone knew how long you have to wait before going back on birth control pills?  Also, how long is it before you have a period after removal?

Ummmm....from what I have read about the removal of the iud, is that u arent supposed to have unprotected sex 5 days before removal!! They say this because sperm does sit in there for 5 days and when u get it removed it goes on through!! To me (now dont freak out, I am no doctor!!) it seems like u could possibly pregnant, but at the same time y r u getting negative results!!?? Idk, u may want to go to the doctor, jus to make sure!! Most people do get pregnant right after the removal so jus to b on the safe side go check it out!!!

I had the Mirena IUD for 5 years with NO periods the whole time. I had it removed at the end of Nov 2010.  Now, it's March and we got a positive pregnancy test last night!!!  Good luck everyone!
