huge bump right in the middle at nape of neck

at the base of my neck there is a big bump. i asked my school nurse about it and she told me to go to the doctors. i made an appointment but i was wondering, can anyone tell me what it is? it doesnt move, its hard, and it doesnt hurt if you press the top of it but it does on the sides. ive been getting migranes too. does anyone know what it is? please help me!
