hysterectomy

I have endometreosis, 3 fairly large fibroids, and cysts on both ovaries. I have tried BC pills, Lupron and I am still bleeding, very heavy, for 2-3 weeks at least. I am in pain all the time. I am not a baby(for the most part). The dr. told me the next step was surgery. Was is the recovery time for a hysto., how will I be out of work, etc. The dr did say it would have to be a total hysto and could not be done vaginally, because of the large fibroids. Is it possible I could come home the same day or the next morn.?

I think my mom stayed 2 nights, she was cut from navel down (same as her c sections) she said the worst part was the gas, so make sure u get something to help that (hers happened once she was home) She had staples but some DR's use the diss. stiches. Don't vaccum or mop for several weeks after surgery!!! She had a total, so she has to take hormones. She did really well!! Good Luck!!

Hi, I also have endom. and it looks like I am going to have to have a hyst. too. I will be getting a D&C first to see if that helps. We were going to wait a few months to do the D&C but I am curently having a m/c so I'm going to be getting it earlier. And I know you are not being a baby!!! I totaly understand that pain!I too have my period VERY heavy and VERY painful lasting about 14-16 days long!!
From what I have learned is that if you have an abdomanal hyst. it's major surgery. You will most likely have to be in the hospital for 2-4 days and you won't be back to your normal self  possibly for 6-8 weeks. The first few weeks you should rest and not lift anything. and bathing is I think 6 weeks.(not shower, just bath) And if you are getting your overies taken out too I think you will have to take some kind of hormones after. Don't know much about that though.
Your Dr. should talk to you about all the risk and everything that will happen. Hope this helps.
I hope everything works out!
