hystorectomy gone wrong STILLIN-Pain

I am 36 years old, in april 2005 I had a hystrectomy, They left my overies. The surgery took almost 6 hours. they told me there was a lot of scar tissue.also told me They needed to use a retractor, to help aide with the surgery. This is why it took so long. 2 days after the surgery I got a post surgey infection,. I developed a mass on my stomach near my belly button the size of a small football. Dr decided that 2 weeks of IV antibiotic would help the mass, they were not  sure What was in the mass the CT scan did not give a clear picture. After 2 weeks with no improvment the Dr's decided to open up the mass and explore. In side they found 2 1/2 litters of infeciton( blood, fluid, tissue, puss). After 6 more operations to clean the infections and 6 months of packing the open wound.i would go to the Dr's 2X a day to pack a 6 in wide by 8 in deep wound. The Dr's wanted the wound to close from the bottom up on its own, They did not want more fluid to trap in. I was on pain meds and lost of pain and diconfort, So in Nov of 2005 the wound still did not close so to help it along, I had my 7th surgey where they oppeted to close the wound. I felt fine for 2 months. Now, its 2 months later,Im back in pain, with another mass near my bellybutton, I gained 22 pounds , the Dr's took a nother CT scan and said it was scare tissue,n that scar tissue dont hurt, and so as it stands. they put me back on antibitics for precauseiong and pain meds to help the disconfort. but, pretty much they are clueless on what is wrong. Can anyone help!Has anyone had this trouble?what do I go?i have had a team of dr

One of the many dr's  who was concerned this issue. Suggested that they take the flap, over my stomach and gut it out. of the fat and scare tissue and then sew it shut. Almost like a tummy tuck. This was in the beginning and about 4 surgeries ago. I have seen several Dr's. I am a militray spouse so i have been to several military facilities. and so far even with all those DR's no one really know what to do! It's just i am sooo fustrated i dont know how much more i can tolorate. Thanks for the info on the scare tissue. This new Dr is trying to convince me scar tissue dont hurt. I am in soo much pain, i cant do normal daily functions some times.

OMG!  You're story sounds truly frightening!  Is there any way you can get medical advice from someone else?  Will your insurance allow you to get another opinion?  I would certainly start with that.  I realize DRs are only human, but it sounds like you have really been through the ringer!

Scar tissue does not contain any nerves as far as I know, but I could be wrong, as I am not a medical professional.  Adhesions could cause pain, and you may have a mix of both.  Be firm with your doctor, and tell him you are in pain, and that these physical symptoms need to get addressed immediately, either by them or by someone else.  Considering your history, I think they would be jumping on this.  Go to the highest ranking officer and beyond if you have to.

You poor thing. I thought I had it bad with my hysterectomy. My Dr. apparently did not know or care to know where a pfannenstiel incision is supposed to go. He cut me inches too high and inches to one side. He also operated without an assistant surgeon present and over-retracted my abdomen causing extreme nerve damage and trauma to my abdomen. He also left the mesh from a prior belly button hernia surgery balled up in my abdomen which is growing adhesions around and in my intestines. I am assuming he also brutally hacked off my vagina making sex so painful I think there are adhesions there too. My husband is a wonderful man to stay with a woman who was so butchered her tummy and vagina are off limits! Just brushing up against anything hurts like crazy, so whoever told you adhesions don't hurt is FULL OF _ _ IT! I was out of work for almost 2 years, $25,000 worth of nerve blocks, morphine, etc. I am now on percocet, prozac, soma, and zanex just to get to work and thru the day. Hysterectomies are handed out like candy and the risks ARE NEVER FULLY EXPLAINED.
My crappy doctor didn't even examine me before maiming and mutilating me. He fabricated a physical and med history so there was not a minute of "informed consent" for me. Had I known any of these risks I would NEVER HAVE CONSENTED TO ABDOMINAL HYSTERECTOMY. Pathology showed 2 polyps....which were not detected or diagnosed because no appropriate diagnostic testing was done. My message to all women out there, vaginal or lap assisted are the appropriate route and abdominals are archaic out dated and for the lazy unskilled doctors who just don't care.I had suicidal thoughts everyday for over a year because of my surgery. My message is:
JUST SAY NO to abdominal hysterectomy!!!
